Online Instructor Trainer Upgrade

The new online Instructor Trainer Development Course (ITDC) is now available. To upgrade to this level, currently authorized MEDIC FIRST AID Instructors should log into the Instructor Login Portal and go to Medic University.  Click 'Purchase New Courss' and select the ITDC from the list.  The registration fee of $195 includes the course itself and the IDC Instructor package.

 

Training Center directors can also purchase this course from the Training Center Manager and assign it to Instructor Trainer (IT) candidates.  From the Instructor listing page on the portal, click 'Show Menu' then 'Assign Courses'.

 

After payment is made, go back to Medic University and click 'Currently Enrolled Courses'; select the ITDC and begin the course.

What is the rationale behind doing chest compressions on an unconscious choking victim?

A sudden cardiac arrest will likely be the result of any adult that suddently collapses and their survival is dependant on the immediate action of a bystander.  According to the 2005 American Heart Association guidelines, EMS should be immediately alerted and the rescuer should start giving hard and fast chest compressions which should be continued until EMS providers arrive.
